Orlando -- A spokeswoman for the Florida Highway Patrol says professional golfer Tiger Woods finally met with patrol officers after they cited him with careless driving.

Highway patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes said the meeting came after patrol officials unsuccessfully attempted to meet with Woods for five days following his Nov. 27 single-vehicle accident in Windermere, Fla., CNN reported Thursday.

Montes said a patrol captain and two troopers finally were allowed to talk with Woods, 34, when they met with the golfer on Dec. 1 to obtain his signature on a $164 careless driving citation.

"When we called (his attorney) and said he would be cited for careless driving, that's when it was decided to bring the ticket over," Montes said.

"He was very polite to the troopers, and we left," the spokeswoman added. "Our case was closed, and that was the sole purpose for the meeting."

CNN said since the November accident, Woods has admitted to being unfaithful to his wife and taken an indefinite break from the PGA tour and the professional golfing world.
