Washington -- U.S. radio and TV personality Rush Limbaugh was hospitalized in Honolulu after suffering chest pains, said a message on "The Rush Limbaugh Show" Web site.

"Rush was admitted to a Honolulu hospital today and is resting comfortably after suffering chest pains. Rush appreciates your prayers and well wishes. He will keep you updated via RushLimbaugh.com and on Thursday's radio program," the message said Wednesday night.

Hawaiian media reports said paramedics were called to the Kahala Hotel and Resort Wednesday afternoon to transport Limbaugh to the hospital.

The 58-year-old, conservative commentator and author was in Hawaii on vacation and had been expected to return to work Monday, E! Online reported.

It was unclear whether he would be well enough to return as scheduled, the entertainment news Web site said.
