Ken Cole, GM's vice president of government relations, has led the companies interactions with governments around the globe for eight years, the Detroit Free Press reported Wednesday.
GM said it had hired John Montford, former AT&T senior vice president of state legislative affairs, and Bob Ferguson, former head state regulatory affairs at AT&T.
Montford was hired as special adviser to GM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ed Whitacre Jr., who is also a veteran of AT&T's executive branch.
Ferguson was named GM's vice president of government relations.
The change signals an ongoing shake up in the executive suite at GM, where Fritz Henderson retired abruptly Dec. 1 after eight months as CEO, the newspaper said.
At the time, Whitacre said the company, which emerged from bankruptcy this summer, needed to accelerate changes.
