Cutler earns NFC player honor

New York -- Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler is the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in a Bears' uniform.

The former Vanderbilt product passed for 273 yards with four touchdowns and one interception in Chicago's 36-30 overtime win over the Minnesota Vikings, earning the second POW honor in his four-year NFL career.

He was joined by Carolina linebacker Jon Beason (Defense) and Tampa Bay return specialist Micheal Spurlock (Special Teams).

Beason claimed his first POW honor by compiling 13 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in the Panthers' 41-9 win over the Giants, which essentially knocked New York out of playoff contention.

Spurlock captured the special teams award for the second time in his career by scoring on a 77-yard punt return in the Buccaneers' 20-17 overtime upset of the New Orleans Saints.

The former Ole Miss product was signed by the Bucs last week.
