COL BKB: Cincinnati 71, Connecticut 69

Cincinnati -- Two free throws by Lance Stephenson with a second remaining Wednesday gave Cincinnati a 71-69 decision over No. 10 Connecticut.

It was the opening Big East Conference game for both teams.

Stephenson's foul shots came after Kemba Walker had tied the game with 9 seconds to go on a 3-pointer, ending a rally that had seen Connecticut come back from a 10-point, second-half deficit.

The Huskies had a three-game winning streak snapped. They fell to 9-3, their other losses having come against No. 3 Kentucky and No. 7 Duke.

Cincinnati won its third straight, improving to 9-3.

Stephenson led the Bearcats with 21 points and Deonta Vaughn had 17. Cincinnati shot just 40 percent from the field, but held Connecticut to 37 percent.

Jerome Dyson paced the Huskies with 24 points.
