Sheen, 44, was being held in the Pitkin County Jail pending a court appearance Monday to answer felony charges of second-degree assault and menacing, and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief, the Pitkin County Sheriff's Department said.
Police responding to a 911 call about 11:20 a.m. MST arrested Sheen and said an alleged victim, whose named was not reported, "did not require transport to the hospital," The Denver Post reported.
Sheen is married to Brooke Muller, 29, a real estate investor. She gave birth to twins in March, the newspaper said.
Sheen -- who has been nominated four times for an Emmy for his CBS comedy series, "Two and a Half Men" -- was booked under his real name, Carlos Irwin Estevez. Bond has been set at $8,500 but Sheen was to remain in jail for the weekend until he could go before magistrate Monday, the sheriff's department said.
The actor's film credits include "Platoon," "Wall Street" and "Major League."
The son of actor Martin Sheen and brother of actor Emilio Estevez has had legal problems in the past. In 1990, while living with actress Kelly Preston, he accidentally shot her, inflicting a wound that required just a few stitches in her arm, and in 1998 he was hospitalized and then went into rehab after a cocaine overdose, the Post said.
