Jason Evans sweatshirts recalled

Washington -- New York's Jason Evans Associates is recalling thousands of Pakistani-made sweatshirts that present a strangulation hazard, a U.S. watchdog agency says.

About 18,300 Boys Fleece & Flannel Zip Hooded Sweatshirts with Drawstrings were imported from Pakistan by Jason Evans Associates LLC of Hewlett, N.Y.

The drawstrings pose a threat of strangulation for a child, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in announcing the voluntary recall. Consumers are advised to remove the drawstring or return the sweatshirt to the place of purchase.

The sweatshirts were sold exclusively at Burlington Coat Factory outlets from September 2006 through this past October for between $12 and $20 apiece.

Consumers can call 888-683-0063 for information.
