Actor Livingston suing over Wikipedia post

Los Angeles -- U.S. actor Ron Livingston is suing Wikipedia, saying the online encyclopedia's page about him incorrectly identifies him as gay.

The 42-year-old actor, best known for his lead role in the movie "Office Space," filed a Los Angeles County Superior Court lawsuit accusing Wikipedia of libel, invasion of privacy and for using his name and likeness without his permission, TMZ.com reported Saturday.

Livingston, who is seeking unspecified damages, alleges an unknown individual continues to alter the actor's Wikipedia page so the page claims Livingston is in a relationship with a man named Lee Dennison.

Livingston, who married Rosemarie DeWitt last month, says such postings are false.
The actor, who also started in the miniseries "Band of Brothers," and the movies "The Cooler" and "Adaptation," said once the offending postings are removed, the unidentified individual immediately replaces them.

TMZ.com said Livingston also alleges the same individual created pages on Facebook under his name as well as Dennison's. Both profiles on the social networking Web site reportedly claim the two men are "in a relationship" with one another.

wiki

The thing with Wikipedia is that they censor the pages being edited by people with biased motives or blatant lies or propoganda such as those edited by politicians. So wiki really can't stand behind a defense of allowing freedom to uncensored edits. If false or malicious things are written about him, wiki has a responsibility to review the page. Not to say that being gay to malicious, but the fact that he is married does make a mockery of his real relationships.

dude CLEARLY doesn't know

dude CLEARLY doesn't know how wikipedia works -_-;;

It's not WIKI'S fault someone is saying you're gay!
The POINt of wikipedia is that can be edited by anyone.

The only way they could stop this from happening is by simply denying that right.

But that would defeat the point of that site , wouldn,t it?

and let's be honest , someone who is confident about their sexuality doesn't care about that sort of bullshit.
