UNICO National, the Order of the Sons of Italy in America and the National Italian American Foundation have all voiced opposition to the new TV series, which premiered Thursday, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Saturday.
The organizations all accuse "Jersey Shore," which features eight young adults living together in the East Coast area of stereotyping Italian-Americans. The organizations said they are particularly bothered by the show's use of the term "Guidos" to refer to young men and women with Italian-American backgrounds.
Mike Sorrentino, one of the show's stars, defended his cast members' lifestyle, which include drinking and sex.
"Everybody has their own style and their own attitude, and everybody was brought up different, and I'm happy to be who I am," Sorrentino told the Inquirer.
"I guess nobody in the older generation of Americans ... went out drinking or looking for girls," he added.

amanda/ ducezz lite, you are a moron.
To the person who wrote the comment above:
You, miss, are a moron. If I were one of your parents, I would sell you to gypsies. First, learn how to speak the English language. Anyone who uses the word "hella" should be sent away to a desolate island with other morons of the like, and a reality show should be made about that island. It would no doubt, last for several seasons, as this show will, because of America's fascination with the retarded. As a New Jersey native, I have spent many summers in and out of the Jersey shore, and I must say, the people on this show are the people most Jersey native would love to punch in the face every time they see them. They do not give Italians a bad name, ALL GUIDOS give Italians a bad name. In particualr, the one know as "the situation" is, I believe, more retarded than all the others, and could maybe benefit from some sort of help and outreach program for the retarded. The men are borderline homosexual, which is not bad, just admit it. The women on this show are disgusting, wear more makeup and spray on tan than any human being should ever wear in a lifetime, and are attracted to metrosexual men who no doubt suffer from sexual conditions do to prolonged steroid use/ abuse. This show is in fact, a disgrace to New Jersey, as most of the fugazi's on it are, in fact from Staten Island. If I were governor of New Jersey, I would have all bridges from Staten Island shut down annually from Memorial Day to Labor day. I would rather take a monetary hit from reduced spending than have half a million retarded guidos running amuck, having unprotected sex with minors and other guidos, which in turn could lead to a massive reproduction of even more guidos, thus lowering standards of education and polluting the gene pool of this fine country with people like the person named "amanda/ducezz lite" who wrote the indecipherable gaggle of nonsense in the comment above this. PErson in the comment above me, as I have stated, you are a moron. Your parents should be ashamed of you, and embarrassed for the shame they have brought to their family by procucing a child who speaks the way you do. You are "hella" stupid, and uber-retarded. Please do not have any intercourse with any guidos, your children would pollute the earth with stupidity, adn make the once beautiful Jersey shore even more crowded with retarded moron guidos and guidas like yourself.
