FDA approves additional H1N1 vaccine

FDA officials said the new vaccine, as with the four previously approved influenza vaccines, will be manufactured using the established, licensed egg-based process used for producing seasonal flu vaccine.

Potential side effects of the new H1N1 vaccine are expected to be similar to those of seasonal flu vaccines. The most common side effect will be soreness at the injection site. Others may include mild fever, body aches and fatigue for a few days after the inoculation.

The vaccine is manufactured by the ID Biomedical Corp. of Quebec, Canada. ID Biomedical is a subsidiary of GlaxoSmithKline PLC.
