COL BKB: Georgetown 74, Tulane 58

New Orleans -- Center Greg Monroe returned to his native city Friday to score 18 points and lead No. 21 Georgetown to a 74-58 victory over Tulane.

Of the 13 nationally ranked teams that played on the first big night of the college basketball season, Georgetown was the only one to compete on the road.

Monroe played his high school basketball in New Orleans and was Georgetown's second-leading scorer last season.

He made 7-of-14 shots from the floor Friday and had two blocks.

Austin Freeman contributed 16 points for the Hoyas, who are trying to bounce back from a 16-15 season that saw them settle for a berth in the NIT.

Tulane was led by 15 points from Kris Richard.
