Scorsese to be honored at Golden Globes

Los Angeles -- Martin Scorsese is to be presented with a lifetime achievement honor at the upcoming 67th annual Golden Globe Awards show in Los Angeles, organizers said.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association said it voted to give the New York-born filmmaker the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field."

The Golden Globes show is to be presided over by comedian Ricky Gervais and broadcast live Jan. 17 on NBC from The Beverly Hilton.

Scorsese's films include "The Departed," "Gangs of New York," "Casino," "Age of Innocence," "Goodfellas," "Raging Bull," "Mean Streets" and "Taxi Driver."
