Some Dove-brand ice cream is recalled

Washington -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of some Dove-brand caramel pecan perfection ice cream because it might contain undeclared peanuts.

The ice cream's manufacturer, Mars Snackfood U.S., said the recalled ice cream with the lot number 931AB5YN07 poses a serious health risk for people allergic to peanuts. For consumers who do not suffer from a peanut allergy or sensitivity, the product is safe to eat, the FDA said.

The recalled ice cream was distributed in Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.

Dove Caramel Pecan Perfection is sold in a brown and gold container and pictures a ribbon of caramel, pecans and a square of Dove Brand Chocolate on the front.

People who have purchased the product can return it for a refund. Consumers with questions can contact the company at 800-551-0895.
