Texas reports 84 percent of its corn acreage is harvested, while North Caroline reports 89 percent of the fieldwork is done. In Illinois, Iowa and North Dakota, however, the corn crop is 11 percent, 10 percent and 1 percent harvested, respectively. In Michigan and Minnesota, 3 percent of the harvest work is done, the USDA said.
The country's sunflower harvest is 9 percent done against a five-year historic average of 25 percent for this time of year.
The soybean harvest is 30 percent done. The rolling, five-year average for the soybean harvest is 72 percent at this time of year.
The cotton crop is 5 percent harvested, compared with an historic average of 35 percent, the department said.
