Yankees seek World Series berth in Game 6

New York, Oct. 23: Andy Pettitte hopes to carry the New York Yankees into the World Series and set a record as well Saturday in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series.

The Yankees, owning a 3-2 in the best-of-seven series, will host the Los Angeles Angels -- hoping to avoid a deciding game and a potential collapse.

New York let a 6-4 lead over the Angels in Game 5 slip away Thursday and then failed to take advantage of a bases-loaded situation in the ninth inning. That left the Angels with a 7-6 victory.

The weather's questionable for Saturday's game. Forecasts call for a 100 percent chance of rain during the afternoon and evening.

Pettitte started Game 3 of the ALCS, which the Angels won in 11 innings. A victory on Saturday would be his 16th playoff win, the most in Major League history.

Los Angeles will counter with Joe Saunders, who worked seven outstanding innings in Game 2 before the Yankees finally won in 13 innings. Saturday's appearance will be the third post-season start of his career.

If a Game 7 is needed, the Yankees will start CC Sabathia, who has defeated the Angels twice in the series.
