The defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins won their sixth straight game and improved to 8-1 on the season, the NHL's best record.
Pittsburgh's winning streak is its longest since it captured seven straight in a run that ended March 10. The Penguins have won seven of their first eight games only once before in franchise history, when they opened the 1994-95 campaign with a 7-0-1 mark.
Tyler Kennedy and Evgeni Malkin scored 71 seconds apart in the opening period and the Penguins took a 4-0 lead in the second on goals by Ruslan Fedotenko and Matt Cooke.
Fleury's bid for a shutout ended with 7:06 to go in the second when Paul Kariya scored his fourth goal of the season.
Chris Mason was removed from the game after giving up four goals on 36 shots. He was replaced by Ty Conklin.
Malkin was credited with 11 shots on goal in the relentless Pittsburgh assault.
