Police look at Gately's last night out

Palma -- Police on the Spanish island of Majorca are focusing on Irish pop star Stephen Gately's night out with his partner to determine the circumstances of his death.

Gately, a 33-year-old member of the recently reunited singing group Boyzone, was found dead Saturday afternoon.

Police told The Times of London no suicide note was found and there was no sign of violence when Andrew Cowles found his domestic partner unresponsive after a night of drinking.

Investigators also said they want to speak to a Bulgarian man who accompanied the couple back to their holiday home on Majorca early Saturday.

"We do not think this man is involved in any way in Stephen's death but his testimony could prove vital," a police source told The Times.

"There was no suicide note or evidence of any drug use or excessive drinking and the dead man's friends were at a loss to explain what had happened," someone called to the scene of Gately's death informed the newspaper. "All we know is that they had gone out the night before til late and had quite a few drinks, and raised the alert when they found Stephen dead."

The Times said police have also been in touch with Gately's family to see if they have any information about what may have led to the singer's death.

An autopsy reportedly is planned for Tuesday with the results expected to be released Wednesday.
