The incident occurred Tuesday while the NBA Hall of Famer, an honorary assistant captain for Fred Couples for the United States at the Presidents Cup event at San Francisco, was playing a practice round at Harding Park.
The newspaper put out a full-page, full-color ad Wednesday showing Jordan enjoying a cigar while hitting a tee shot at the 14th hole.
"Well, that depends," Jordan told PGA.com when asked if he would smoke during the tournament. This is a public place ... I'm not even supposed to be smoking, but this was a practice round and no one said anything. I would say (it's) a three-cigar round."
Normally, there is a $100 fine for violators.

Mr. Jordan is an individual who people hold as a role model. Recent events of his Hall of Fame speech, lack of endorsement for Chicago's Olympic bid and now this. Clearly Mr. Jordan is done being the Jordan brand.
