Favre leads weekly NFC player honorees

New York -- Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre is the NFC's Offensive Player of the Week.

Days before his 40th birthday, Favre completed 24-of-31 passes for 271 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and a 135.3 passer rating, leading the Vikings to a 30-23 victory against Green Bay, his former team, earning his 14th career POW Award.

The 19-year veteran is the first quarterback in NFL history to beat all 32 current franchises, and has thrown at least two touchdowns in 10 consecutive games at Minnesota's Metrodome.

Others earning NFC honors were New Orleans safety Darren Sharper (defense) and Chicago kick returner Johnny Knox (special teams).

Sharper scored on a 99-yard pass interception in the Saints' 24-10 victory over the New York Jets.

Knox scored on a 102-yard kickoff return and compiled 147 return yards in the Bears' 48-24 win over Detroit.
