The Braves won their second straight after having picked up just one win in seven contests.
Jurrjens (11-10) allowed all six St. Louis hits and struck out seven over eight innings, getting the best of St. Louis starter Joel Pineiro.
St. Louis put runners on first and third with nobody out in the third without scoring and then had a potential run cut down at home in the sixth when Matt Holliday attempted to score from second on a single by Colby Rasums.
Atlanta's only run came in the second, with Brian McCann dashing in from third when St. Louis first baseman Albert Pujols committed a fielding error on a grounder by Omar Infante.
Pineiro (14-10) gave up only five hits in seven innings to take the loss. Soriano picked up his 23rd save by working a perfect ninth.
St. Louis, which still leads the Chicago Cubs by 10 1/2 games in the National League Central, had won its previous three outings.
