Hitler paintings fetch $60K at auction

Nuremberg -- Three watercolor paintings believed to have been rendered by German dictator Adolf Hitler were sold for a total of more than $60,000 at an auction in Nuremberg.

Nuremberg is the city in south-eastern Germany where Nazi war crime trials were held after World War II.

The BBC quoted auctioneer Herbert Weidler as saying Hitler's signed art works, which date from 1910 to 1911, were sold to three phone bidders whose identities were not released.

"Weissenkirchen in der Wachau" or "Austrian town" sold for $34,320; "Zerschossene Muehle" or "Bullet-riddled mill" sold for $16,300; and "Haus mit Bruecke am Fluss" or "House with a bridge over a river" sold for $9,800, the BBC said.
