Eagles switch out tight ends.

Philadelphia -- The Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday agreed to a one-year contract with tight end Alex Smith, releasing tight end Tony Curtis to make room on their 53-man roster.

Smith had been cut loose Saturday by New England, which had given Tampa Bay a fifth-round pick in the off-season to get him. In his fifth NFL season, Smith has 129 receptions for 1,252 yards and 11 touchdowns in 58 career games.

Curtis played for Dallas last season but the Cowboys released him in the off-season. He signed with Kansas City but the Chiefs cast him of last month. In 36 career games with Dallas, Curtis had 11 receptions for 50 yards and three touchdowns. The three scores came on his only three catches in 2007.
