Geathers was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness following the weekend incident in Columbia, S.C., the newspaper said Monday.
"We are disappointed in the actions of Clfiton Geathers the other night," Spurrier said in a release from the university. "He has been suspended indefinitely from the team until all the facts come in."
The 21-year-old Geathers was uncooperative when police arrived and had to be detained by two officers, the newspaper said.
Geathers is a brother of Robert Geathers Jr., a defensive end for the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals.
