MLB: Chicago White Sox 3, Seattle 1

Seattle, Aug. 12: Alexei Ramirez smacked a three-run homer in the ninth inning Tuesday and the Chicago White Sox beat Seattle 3-1.

Mariners' pitchers held the White Sox to just two hits through eight innings but A.J. Pierzynski drew a one-out walk from Seattle reliever David Aardsma (3-4) and Carlos Quentin followed with a single. Ramirez stroked his 13th home run of the season to put the White Sox ahead and Bobby Jenks pitched a scoreless ninth to get his 23rd save.

John Danks (10-8) went eight innings, allowing one run on seven hits with one walk and eight strikeouts for the White Sox, who won for just the second time in six games.

Russell Branyan had two hits and one RBI for the Mariners, who had a two-game winning streak stopped.

Seattle starter Doug Fister went six shutout innings, allowing just one hit with four walks and four strikeouts.
