MLB: Los Angeles Angels 6, San Diego 0

Anaheim, Calif. -- Jered Weaver recorded his first career shutout Sunday by pitching the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to a 6-0 win over the San Diego Padres.

Weaver, who went the distance for the third time this season and won his fourth consecutive start, gave up five hits and struck out five as the Halos swept the weekend series.

Juan Rivera hit two solo home runs for the Angels and Torii Hunter had two RBI.

Chris Young (4-6) lasted 2 1/3 innings, giving up five runs on four hits and walking five. Adrian Gonzalez had three of the five San Diego hits.

Los Angeles jumped off to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Vladimir Guerrero's RBI single. They extended the lead with three more in the second with the help
of three consecutive walks by Young.

Rivera homered in the third and fifth innings to pad the lead.

San Diego managed to put runners in scoring position in the fourth and fifth innings, but Weaver both times snuffed out the threats.
