Diversity, which was formed in 2007 and has 10 members ages 12 to 25, outpolled Boyle in the public voting, the show's producers said on its Web site.
Choreographer Ashley Banjo thanked "everyone who has voted -- you have changed our lives."
The group won a first prize of $162,000 and a date to perform for Queen Elizabeth in December.
Saxophonist Julian Smith finished third.
"The best people won," Boyle told the show's judges. "They are very entertaining lads -- lads, I wish you all the best."
Boyle, whose initial performance on the show made her an Internet sensation, had been favored by odds makers to win the competition.
"What a journey," she said after finishing second. "Unbelievable, and very humbling. Thank you for everything."
Boyle, 48, said she hoped to release an album this year but she would "just play it by ear."
Boyle had been accused in press reports of carrying out a foul-mouthed tirade while watching the semifinals of the ITV series, but "Britain's Got Talent" judge Piers Morgan said prior to Saturday's final competition that Boyle "is a very, very nice lady from Scotland who never thought she would have this
chance and she is really looking forward to it," The Times of London reported.
