Ken Griffey Jr. singled in the game's only run in the first inning and the contest then settled into a duel between Jakubauskas and Ervin Santana, who was making his second start of the season.
Santana (0-1), who opened the campaign on the disabled list with a sprained elbow, gave up three runs to Boston in a five-inning stint last week. He limited Seattle to a run on five hits over 6 2/3.
That was enough for the Mariners, however, who got outstanding relief efforts from Miguel Batista, Mark Lowe and David Aardsma.
Jakubauskas (2-4) allowed two hits over six innings. The only other Los Angeles hit was a two-out single in the eighth surrendered by Lowe. Aardsma allowed a walk in the ninth for his fifth save.
Ichiro Suzuki opened the Seattle first with a double and came in on Griffey's one-out single to right.
Los Angeles loaded the bases with two away in the fourth, but Jakubauskas got Howie Kendrick to fly out to end the inning.
The Angels had won the opening two games of the series.
