MLB: Toronto 5, Oakland 0

Oakland, Calif. -- Toronto rookie Brett Cecil threw eight shutout innings Sunday to notch his first Major League win and lead Blue Jays past the Oakland Athletics 5-0.

Cecil (1-0) struck out the first six batters he faced and limited the A's to five hits before giving way to Jason Frasor and Jesse Carlson, who closed out the ninth.

Alex Rios drove in three runs for the Jays. Aaron Hill and Rod Barajas had the other Toronto RBI.

Dallas Braden (3-4) took the loss, allowing three runs on nine hits over six innings.

Rios' first RBI came on a solo home run in the third. He then drove in Jose Bautista on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the fifth.

After Rod Barajas made it 3-0 in the sixth on a sacrifice fly, Hill and Rios notched back-to-back RBI singles with two outs in the ninth to close out the scoring.
