On Monday, Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne said the Italian company was pursing a goal creating one company out of Fiat, General Motors Corp.'s European operations Chrysler LLC in the United States, Alfa Romeo in Italy and Saab in Sweden.
Johnson said about 10 buyers have expressed an interest in buying Saab, but that Fiat was not one of them.
He would not name the perspective buyers, saying Saab was "expecting an indication of their interest this week.
