Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ashok Singhal launched Modi's websites in Sanskrit and Hindi in Ahmedabad Saturday.
"The Sanskrit website is a great attempt by Narendra Modi to preserve national legacy," Singhal said at the event.
A statement posted on the chief minister's official English website claimed that he is the only politician in the world to have a Sanskrit Internet site.
It added that by launching the website, Modi was echoing the views of three inspirational leaders - Swami Vivekananda, Sri Aurobindo and Acharya Vinoba Bhave - who believed that Sanskrit was the best way to integrate and revitalise India.
Modi's Gujarati and English websites have already attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors and have nearly 24,000 registered users, the statement claimed.
