Andy Murray now an alcohol-free zone

London, April 8 -- England tennis star Andy Murray has revealed his strong dislike for alcohol.

"I hate alcohol," Britain's clean-hitting tennis player was quoted as saying in the Telegraph. "I'm not a fan of going out and getting smashed."

Murray last week bagged the prestigious Miami Masters and his win has indicated that it is going to take a lot to stop him at Wimbledon or the US Open this season. His teetotal lifestyle means that there is little danger of the world No. 4 wasting his talent.

The world's pubs and clubs hold no appeal for him. In fact, he is the rare beast among the leading British sportsmen who does not mark his achievements by immediately popping the corks off the Bollinger.

Little sips of strawberry daiquiris aside, Murray has drunk no alcohol since leaving a tennis academy in Barcelona at the age of 17.

"I made the mistake when I was at Barcelona that I would train for five and a half days and then at the weekend go out and do something on the Saturday and then feel horrible on Monday and Tuesday. It was just a waste," Murray, who will start his clay-court season at the Monte Carlo Country Club next week, said.

"I like stuff like going out with friends for dinner, or going to the cinema. I'll probably go out on a jet ski. I love doing stuff like that."
