The South Florida Sun-Sentinel said officials in Broward County are taking another look at the circumstances surrounding the blonde bombshell's apparent death of an accidental prescription drug overdose at the Hard Rock Casino & Hotel in Hollywood, Fla. She was 39.
News that the case is being re-evaluated comes shortly after felony charges were filed in California
against Smith's attorney and boyfriend Howard K. Stern, as well as two of her doctors who are accused of conspiring to supply Smith with thousands of prescription pills.
"Our prosecutors have met with representatives of the Los Angeles district attorney's
office and the California Department of Justice and discussed the evidence they have turned up in their investigation," Ron Ishoy, a spokesman for the Broward County State Attorney's Office, told NBC 6. "We are now investigating that evidence to see where it might lead in relation to Ms. Smith's death here in Broward County in 2007."

Failure on all fronts
I am surprised it took them so long to start taking a serious look at her death. When a starlet dies of a prescription drug overdose it is a tragedy but it isn't SUPER uncommon. However when you look at the sheer volume of drugs that she was being given, there has to be suspicion of foul play. After a full investigation and hear we'll know who the responsible parties were, but you'd be crazy to think that the motive wasn't somehow connected to Anna's claim against the Marshall estate. How silly that must seem to the people involved at this point as they no longer envision millions of dollars in ill-gotten gains, but now only try to dream about a future where they aren't in jail. That claim was on its last legs anyway and Justice Kennedy may have all but put it to bed when he (rightfully) denied Howard K. Stern's petition to the Supreme Court earlier this month. That ruling and the start of this investigation show signs that justice may really be served in this case.
