Pocatello, Idaho -- An Idaho sheriff said his "pride is fractured" but he is not otherwise seriously injured after accidentally shooting himself in the hand.

"I can say I shot the sheriff," Nielsen joked.

Los Angeles -- A toddler's fatal fall at the Staples Center after a Lakers game was an accident, the Los Angeles coroner ruled.
An autopsy of Lucas Anthony Tang, 2, determined Tuesday that he died of multiple injuries but found no foul play, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Lucas was posing with his parents and his 11-year-old sister Sunday in front of a glass barrier, but as the family reviewed the pictures on their camera, they lost track of Lucas and he somehow got over the barrier and fell nearly 30 feet. Initial reports said the child had fallen 50 feet.

Kabul, Afghanistan -- Trainers at an Afghan training facility said they are focusing on road education because more than half of Afghan army injuries come from road accidents.
U.S. Army Lt. Gen. William Caldwell IV, commander of the NATO-run Kabul Military Training Center, said 141 Afghan soldiers and recruits have died in rollovers and collisions since 2005 and many of the incidents could have been avoided by following the rules of the road, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.
"We're losing them faster from vehicle accidents than combat," Caldwell said.

New York -- "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino has confirmed her recent overdose on aspirin and a sleep aid was a suicide attempt.

"At that moment, I wanted out. I wanted it to be over with -- all of it, all of that (expletive,)" she said. "I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle. ... I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace. I knew exactly what I was doing. You can't accidentally take a whole bottle of pills."
