London -- The son of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour was arrested Sunday for grabbing the Union Jack to climb a monument during protests in London.
Police told the BBC Charlie Gilmour, 21, tried to damage the flag on the Cenotaph war memorial Thursday and was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and attempted criminal damage.
Gilmour, a student at Cambridge, apologized Friday, saying he was "mortified by his moment of idiocy."
He added, "I would like to express my deepest apologies for the terrible insult to the thousands of people who died bravely for our country that my actions represented."

Los Angeles -- Nicole Richie, daughter of music superstar Lionel Richie, has married rocker Joel Madden, the father of her two children, in Los Angeles.
Richie, 29, and Madden, 31, tied the knot Saturday at her father's estate with about 130 close family and friends, People magazine reported.
"They wanted an Old Hollywood, glamorous feel to their wedding," a source told People. "They're going all-out with the decor. Nicole wanted a memorable, elegant affair for only their closest friends and family on their special day."
Seen entering the grounds was a trained elephant, although it wasn't known what, if any, role it played in the ceremony.

Los Angeles -- Sugar Ray singer and "Don't Forget the Lyrics" host Mark McGrath has sold his home in California for $1.25 million, records show.
McGrath sold his renovated 1931 country English-style house in Hollywood Hills above its listed price, The Los Angeles Times reported.
McGrath, 42, bought the property in 1995 for $365,000, public records show. It was listed at $1,199,000.
The home was purchased by artist Alexandra Nechita, and her boyfriend, fashion designer Dimitri Tcharfas.
The three-bedroom, two-bath home has a step-down living room with a vaulted ceiling that opens to a patio with views of Los Angeles. The breakfast room is a turret with built-in seating.

Los Angeles -- Miley Cyrus' father says he was stunned by the recently surfaced video of his teenage daughter smoking from a bong at a Los Angeles party.
Cyrus fired off on Twitter Friday, saying he had just seen the images for the first time and "had no idea" the partying had taken place.
"Im so sad," the tweet said. "There is much beyond my control right now."
The New York Daily News said video cropped up a couple of months after the 18-year-old pop princess' parents, Billy Ray and Tish, announced their divorce.
A source told TMZ that despite her giggling and sometimes incoherent conversations, Miley was not smoking marijuana but rather Salvia, an herb that can have hallucinogenic effects.

Moscow -- British pop star Elton John announced on his Web site he plans to perform in Moscow this weekend.
The sold-out show is to take place Sunday in the city's Crocus City Hall venue.
"Elton John is coming with a new show, where he will play together with famous drummer Ray Cooper. They will play Elton's old and new songs but with an accent on the drums," concert organizer Yelena Maslova told RIA
Novosti.
John, 63, was one of the first western musicians to bring his act to the Soviet Union. He played his first concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg in 1979, and last took the stage in Russia in 2009, RIA Novosti said.

Miami -- Florida's Board of Executive Clemency has voted to pardon late rock icon Jim Morrison, who was convicted of indecent exposure and open profanity in 1969.
CNN said the unanimous decision was made Thursday.
The front man for The Doors was accused of unzipping his pants and simulating a sex act while intoxicated on stage during a concert at Miami's Key Auditorium more than four decades ago.
Morrison denied the allegations and was acquitted of charges of lascivious behavior and drunkenness but convicted of indecent exposure and open profanity.
He was sentenced to six months in jail and was appealing the verdict in 1971 when he died of a heart attack in Paris. He was 27.

New York -- The U.S. rock band Train's "Hey, Soul Sister" has been named the top-selling song of 2010 on iTunes, Columbia Records said Thursday.
Earlier this month, the band earned a Grammy nomination for the song for Best Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. The awards are to be given out on Feb. 13.
In addition, the band will finish up the year by performing on Dick Clark's New Year's Eve special Dec. 31, the group's record label said.

San Diego -- Famed jazz musician, composer and band leader James Moody died Thursday of pancreatic cancer at the San Diego Hospice, his wife said. He was 85.
Linda McGowan Moody told The San Diego Union-Tribune the saxophonist and flutist, who enjoyed a successful career that spanned six decades, died with his family by his side, following a 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
"He couldn't have gone more peacefully," Moody told the newspaper.
The Savannah, Ga., native was raised in Newark, N.J. He began playing saxophone as a teenager and began his career in earnest after serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Los Angeles -- Aretha Franklin's cousin told the Detroit Free Press the ailing songstress is "doing really, really good."
Media reports said Wednesday the 68-year-old recording star is suffering from pancreatic cancer.
Franklin's publicist said last week the Detroit native underwent a highly successful operation for an undisclosed illness.
The singer recently announced she was canceling performances and appearances through May so she could focus on unspecified health issues.
"The doctors said the surgery went well and that everyone is praying for the best," her publicist told The Hollywood Reporter without offering details about her diagnosis Wednesday.

Hunt Valley, Md. -- U.S. country music star Taylor Swift has been tapped to represent a new line of makeup called NatureLuxe, Covergirl announced Wednesday.
The line is set to become available in January, the company said.
"Taylor's naturally polished and beautiful look fits perfectly with the new luxury makeup line," Vince Hudson, general manager of Covergirl Cosmetics, said in a statement.
