Ferrell tops list of overpaid actors

Hollywood -- Comic actor Will Ferrell has topped Forbes magazine's list of Hollywood's Most Overpaid Actors for a second consecutive year.

The roster was compiled based on a comparison of how much stars were paid for their movies compared to what the projects earned at the box office, the magazine said Friday.

According to the list, for every dollar Ferrell was paid, his movies made an average of $3.35 in ticket sales.

Eddie Murphy's films made $4.45 for every $1 he was paid; Denzel Washington's $5.10; Seth Rogen's $6.75; Tom Cruise's $7.20; Drew Barrymore's $7.45; Matt Damon's $8.30; Vince Vaughn's $8.35; Adam Sandler's $8.45 and Jim Carey's $8.60, Forbes said.

'Guys' rakes it in at the box office

Los Angeles -- "The Other Guys" starring those guys Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, took the No. 1 spot at the U.S. box office for the weekend with $35.6 million.

"Inception" with Leonardo DiCaprio was a strong No. 2 even after four weekends, with $18.6 million in box office receipts.

In the No. 3 spot, "Step Up 3-D," charged higher prices for 3-D and raked in $15.5 million.

Ferrell tops Forbes's overpaid star list

Los Angeles -- Comic actor Will Ferrell tops Forbes's 2009 list of Hollywood's Most Overpaid Stars, the magazine has announced.

To compile the roster, Forbes staff compared the actors' salaries to how much their movies earned at the box office.

Ferrell's films "Elf" and "Talladega Nights" were enormous hits, but his more recent movies "Semi-Pro," "Step Brothers" and "Land of the Lost" didn't perform as well at the box office. Forbes said that for every dollar Ferrell was paid, his films earned an average $3.29.

'Other Guys' starts shooting in NY

New York -- Principal photography began this week in New York on the action-comedy "The Other Guys," starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, Columbia Pictures said.

The film is directed by Adam McKay, and was written by McKay and Chris Henchy.
