Washington -- The U.S. corn harvest remains significantly behind the five-year average for the crop with 68 percent of the harvest done, the Department of Agriculture said.
The crop's five-year average the harvest for this week of the year is 94 percent done, the department said Monday.
The nation's soybean harvest is 94 percent complete and only 3 percentage points behind its five-year average. The sunflower crop is 80 percent harvested, against an historic average of 93 percent for this time of year.
Cotton is 72 percent harvested, compared with an historic average of 75 percent for this week of November.
Eighty-eight percent of the peanut crop is harvested. By this time of year, 96 percent of the harvest is completed, based on a five-year average.
