AFTRA needs more time to mull Brooks offer

Los Angeles -- The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists said it needs more time to consider Stanley Brooks's offer to settle a dispute over a 2008 Logo TV show.

Brooks, who produced 2008's "Sordid Lives," gave AFTRA until Friday afternoon to accept his estimated half-million-dollar offer or he would instruct his attorneys to file for the bankruptcy of two of his companies, Once Upon A Time Films and Sordid Lives LLC, The Hollywood Reporter said.

But AFTRA told Brooks it needed more time to consider the offer, and Brooks agreed to wait until Sunday for an answer.

'Sister Wives' family hires top attorney

Salt Lake City -- Stars of the TV show "Sister Wives" say they have hired a prominent constitutional law professor to represent them in case they are charged with bigamy in Utah.

The family's marital status and living arrangements are under investigation by the Lehi police and the Utah County Attorney's Office.

The Salt Lake Tribune said Kody Brown and his wives -- Meri, Janelle, Christine and Robyn -- have hired Jonathan Turley, a member of George Washington University's faculty, to represent them if they are charged with bigamy, a third-degree felony punishable by as much as five years in prison.

Turley is a frequent guest on cable news television, providing analysis on constitutional and other legal issues.

She is to appear in the show's Season 2 finale, set to air Friday.

Connick speaks out over blackface act

Sydney -- U.S. musician and actor Harry Connick Jr. has voiced his disapproval of performers who donned blackface on the Australian TV show "Hey Hey It's Saturday."

The group, which called itself the Jackson Jive, sang the Jackson 5 song, "Can You Feel It," on Wednesday's special edition of the variety program on which Connick was a guest judge, CNN said.

"If they turned up looking like that in the United States, hey, hey, there's no more show," the U.S. news network quoted Connick as saying with a frown about the performance.
