MLB: Atlanta 6, Tampa Bay 2

Atlanta -- Tommy Hanson allowed three hits over seven scoreless innings Wednesday, boosting the Atlanta Braves to a 6-2 decision over Tampa Bay.

Hanson (7-3) put only one runner on base during the first five innings and worked his way out of a sixth-inning jam en route to his fourth straight victory. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Troy Glaus had a two-run single during Atlanta's three-run third and Eric Hinske added a solo homer in the sixth. The Braves took a 6-0 lead into the ninth before the Rays scored twice against Jonny Venters.

Martin Prado went 3-for-5 with an RBI and boosted his league-leading hit total to 95.

Wade Davis (5-7) suffered the loss, giving up three runs on seven hits in five innings.

MLB: Atlanta 6, NY Mets 0

Atlanta, Sept. 16: Adam LaRoche went 4-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI Tuesday to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 6-0 win over the New York Mets.

Tommy Hanson (10-3) struck out eight, walked three and scattered three hits in seven innings in the eighth straight start in which he allowed no more than three earned runs. The rookie right-hander hasn't allowed a run in his last 15 innings and had 15 strikeouts in those two outings.

LaRoche also doubled twice and scored four runs. Nate McLouth had a two-run single and an RBI double and Omar Infante was 3-for-4 with a run scored in the win.

MLB: Houston 2, Atlanta 1

Houston, Sept. 9: Miguel Tejada's two-run single with one out in the ninth inning Wednesday gave the Houston Astros a dramatic 2-1 decision over Atlanta.

Atlanta starter Tommy Hanson shut down Houston on five hits over eight innings but closer Rafael Soriano (1-5) labored over 20 pitches while giving up the lead.

After Michael Bourn struck out to open the ninth, Kazuo Matsui singled to right and went to third on Lance Berkman's double. Carlos Lee drew an intentional walk to load the bases and Tejada followed by stroking a 1-2 pitch into center.

Houston won for the fifth time in six games and Atlanta has lost six out of seven.

MLB: Philadelphia 4, Atlanta 2

Philadelphia, Aug. 29: Ryan Howard hit two home runs Friday, boosting his total to 37, in Philadelphia's 4-2 victory over Florida.

Howard put the Phillies in front for good with a solo blast in the second, then hit a two-run homer in the fourth. He also had a double in the eighth inning, raising his batting average to .339 with 11 homers and 29 RBI in his last 15 games.

Rain delayed the game almost two hours in the second inning, causing both starting pitchers to leave.

Philadelphia reliever Jamie Moyer worked 4 1/3 to get the win, allowing a run on four hits.

Brad Lidge, who has blown nine save opportunities this year, struck out one and threw only 12 pitches in the ninth to claim his 26th save.

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers 5, Atlanta 0

Atlanta, July 31: Jason Schmidt combined with three relievers on a three-hitter Friday and Andre Ethier drove in four runs, carrying the Los Angeles Dodgers past Atlanta 5-0.

After losing three games in a row for the first time all season, the Dodgers have bounced back with two straight wins.

Schmidt (2-1), trying to come back from two shoulder operations that have sidelined him most of the last three seasons, allowed only one hit through six innings. He walked five, however, and put two base runners on in three different frames.

MLB: Atlanta 11, San Francisco 3

Atlanta, July 20: Ryan Church hit a two-run homer in a six-run seventh inning Monday when the Atlanta Braves posted an 11-3 victory over San Francisco.

Chipper Jones also hit a two-run homer and Garret Anderson added a solo homer for the Braves, who have won eight of their last 11 games. Church was 2-for-2 with three RBI.

Tommy Hanson (5-0) earned the win after giving up three runs on five hits and striking out 11 in seven innings.

Braves shortstop Yunel Escobar, who was named the National League Player of the Week, was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Randy Winn had a pair of hits, including a two-run double for San Francisco, which has lost four of its last five games.

MLB: Atlanta 2, Boston 1

Atlanta -- Tommy Hanson limited the Red Sox to two hits in six scoreless innings Sunday and the Atlanta Braves held on for a 2-1 inter-league win over Boston.

Hanson (4-0) had thrown just 97 pitches before being relieved at the start of the top of the seventh inning by Eric O'Flaherty.

He made solo homers by Chipper Jones in the first and Garret Anderson in the fourth stand up by taming Boston's potent lineup.

Closer Mike Gonzalez recorded his ninth save despite giving up a run and two hits in the top of the ninth.

Anderson had two of the six hits for the Braves, who avoided a three-game sweep and snapped their four-game losing streak.

Boston's run scored on Jason Varitek's second hit, a single with two outs in the ninth.

MLB: Atlanta 7, Cincinnati 0

Cincinnati -- Tommy Hanson and three relievers combined on a five-hit shutout Thursday and the Atlanta Braves easily beat the Cincinnati Reds 7-0.

Hanson (2-0) gave up three hits in six scoreless innings, while relievers Peter Moylan, Mike Gonzalez and Rafael Soriano all pitched an inning apiece.

At the plate, Nate McLouth had two hits -- one a fifth-inning two-run homer -- and four RBI.

One of two hits for Matt Diaz was a fourth-inning solo shot.
Three others had one RBI for the Braves, who averted a three-game sweep.

Before Thursday's victory, they had lost four straight road games.

Five players had one hit for the Reds, who have lost five of their last seven outings.

MLB: Atlanta 8, Milwaukee 7

Atlanta -- Chipper Jones had two home runs and five RBI Sunday to lead the Atlanta Braves to an 8-7 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Braves had been shut out by the Brewers the previous two games and hadn't scored a run in their last 22 innings going into Sunday's action.

Atlanta had 13 hits Sunday and scored three runs in the eighth inning.

Jones, back in the lineup after leaving Saturday's contest with dizziness, was 4-for-4. Yunel Escobar went 3-for-5 with an RBI in the win.

Atlanta's Tommy Hanson made his major league debut Sunday after being called up from Class AAA Gwinnett. Hanson held the Brewers hitless over the first three innings, but wound up allowing seven runs on six hits in six innings.
