Arlington, Texas -- Tim Lincecum allowed one run over eight innings and Edgar Renteria homered Monday, leading San Francisco to a 3-1 win over Texas and a World Series title.
Lincecum (2-0) yielded three hits, walked two and struck out 10 in a dominating performance that enabled the Giants to win the 2010 World Series 4-games-to-1 and take their first championship since 1954 when the franchise was still based in New York.
Lincecum and the Rangers' Cliff Lee (0-2) engaged in a scoreless pitchers' duel over six innings. But the Giants broke it open in the seventh when Cody Ross and Juan Uribe singled and Renteria smacked a three-run homer into the left-center field stands.

San Francisco -- San Francisco Giants ace Tim Lincecum will face the Texas Rangers' Cliff Lee in Game 1 of the World Series, Giants Manager Bruce Bochy said Monday.
Bochy revealed he will go with the two-time Cy Young Award winner in Wednesday's first game at AT&T Park in San Francisco, followed by right-hander Matt Cain in Game 2.
Rangers Manager Ron Washington has revealed left-handed ace Lee will go in the first contest, but has yet to name the remainder of his World Series starting rotation.
Bochy said Jonathan Sanchez would start for the Giants in Game 3 at Arlington, Texas, despite an erratic outing in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series against Philadelphia -- which the Giants eventually won to clinch the NL pennant.

San Francisco -- Tim Lincecum threw a two-hit gem in his playoff debut Thursday, carrying the San Francisco Giants to a 1-0 victory over Atlanta in their division series opener.
Lincecum, the 2008 and 2009 National League Cy Young Award winner, finally got a crack at a post-season game after four years in the majors and he made the most of it. He struck out 14, walked one and gave up two doubles in staking the Giants to a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five opening round series.
The teams will meet again Friday in San Francisco.
The game's only run came in the fourth inning when Buster Posey led off with a single, stole second and scored on a base hit by Cody Ross. That run was charged to Derek Lowe, who gave up four hits and struck out six over 5 1/3.

San Francisco -- Ian Desmond drove in three runs Wednesday and the Washington Nationals beat San Francisco 7-3 in Giants' ace Tim Lincecum's second straight poor outing.

Lincecum (5-1) gave up six runs on six hits and walked five in his shortest outing of the year.
Desmond's RBI single finished off a three-run third and he contributed a two-run double during a three-run sixth.

San Francisco -- Ace San Francisco Giants right-hander Tim Lincecum avoided a salary arbitration hearing Friday by agreeing to a multiyear contract.
The two-time National League Cy Young Award winner made $650,000 last season, but had filed for $13 million.
The Giants had countered with an $8 million offer, and Fox Sports said the deal pays $23 million for two years.
"I've already heard (about) things that could go on in that (arbitration) room," he told KNBR 680 Radio in San Francisco Feb. 5 at the team's annual FanFest. "Going through arbitration, everybody knows what can happen and the feelings that can get hurt."
A physical is pending before the Giants comment.

San Francisco -- San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum has asked for a Major League Baseball record $13 million in salary arbitration, sources say.
Without naming its sources, the San Jose Mercury News reported Tuesday Lincecum's bid is believed to be the highest ever submitted by a player in his first year of arbitration eligibility -- eclipsing the $10 million asked for and received by Philadelphia first baseman Ryan Howard in 2008.
The newspaper said the Giants have countered with an $8 million offer. An arbitrator must choose one or the other offer to serve as the 2010 payday for Lincecum, 25, the first pitcher to win Cy Young Awards in each of his first two big league seasons.

New York -- Two-time National League Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum of San Francisco is one of 128 players who have filed for salary arbitration for the 2010 season.
Lincecum, 25, filed Friday and likely will get a larger payday based on his performance the last two seasons.
The right-hander was 15-7 with four complete games, two shutouts and a 2.48 ERA in 2009 when he made $650,000. In three major league seasons, he has a 40-17 record with 261 strikeouts, developing into one of the game's best starters.
Also, he is the first San Francisco pitcher since Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson (1907-08) to lead the league in strikeouts two straight seasons.

San Francisco, Sept. 26: Carlos Zambrano threw a two-hitter Friday and the Chicago Cubs damaged San Francisco's playoffs hopes with a 2-0 win over the Giants.
In addition to handing the Giants a key setback, the Cubs again prevented the St. Louis Cardinals from clinching the National League Central title.
A win by St. Louis or a loss by the Cubs over the final week of the season will give the Cardinals the division crown. St. Louis missed out on a chance for victory earlier in the evening when it fell to Colorado and the Cubs then forced the Cardinals to wait at least another day by defeating the Giants.
Chicago scored two runs in the ninth inning on Thursday to rally past the Giants and keep St. Louis from clinching the division title.
