New York -- U.S. actor Taylor Lautner says it isn't his idea to be frequently filmed and photographed without a shirt.

Lautner is one of the stars of the popular "Twilight Saga" movies. He appeared on Thursday's edition of "Late Show with David Letterman" to promote the latest installment in the franchise, "Eclipse."

"Was that your idea?" Letterman asked Lautner, holding up a GQ magazine cover on which the 18-year-old actor is posing shirtless.

"No, it wasn't," Lautner laughed. "No, it's the ('Twilight') books... He's a werewolf, and when you transform into a werewolf, apparently all your clothes tear off."

"Well, I can see that," Letterman teased.

Beverly Hills, Calif. -- Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart have signed on to be presenters at the 82nd Academy Awards show in Los Angeles.

The news was announced Monday by telecast producers Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic.

This will be Cyrus and Efron's second appearance at the prize presentation, and Lautner and Stewart's debut on an Academy Awards telecast.

The ceremony to honor 2009's best in film is to take place March 7 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.
