'Staff member' at golf club has four legs

Philadelphia -- One of the most important "people" charged with keeping the golf course clean at Pennsylvania's AT&T National is a black-and-white dog, his boss says.

Charlie is a border collie, considered "part of the staff" at Aronimink Golf Club, who runs goose patrol keeping the birds off the course so their droppings don't soil the immaculate greens, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Wednesday.

"She's kind of doing a patrol thing," assistant superintendent Ben Little said. "She's just prepared to chase anything that moves. Never actually caught anything, but she has fun with it."

Course superintendent John Gosselin said Charlie's job is to help deter animals interfering with golfers.

Woods and Kim share A&T National lead

Bethesda, Md. -- Tiger Woods had an even-par 70 Saturday and dropped back into a tie with Anthony Kim after three rounds of the PGA's AT&T National in Maryland.

Kim, the defending champion, shot a 2-under 68 to join Woods at 10-under 200. The two matched the tournament's 54-hole scoring record, which Tom Pernice Jr. set last year.

Michael Allen, who won the Senior PGA Championship in June, turned in the best round of the day -- a 5-under 65 -- to move into a share of third place at 211 with Cameron Beckman (66).

Woods will be seeking his 68th PGA Tour victory Sunday at Congressional.

Kim will after his third tour title and first since last year in this tournament.

Kim leads Tiger by two at AT&T National

Bethesda, Md. July 2: Anthony Kim, winless since he captured this event a year ago, fired a course-record 8-under 62 Thursday for a two-shot lead at the AT&T National.

Kim was one of the hottest golfers in the world for much of 2008, claiming two victories during the year, starring in the American Ryder Cup triumph and finishing among the top three in five other tournaments.

He had had limited success this year, however, until finishing among the top 20 the past two weeks at the U.S. Open and Travelers Championship.
