Los Angeles -- Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are to replace Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres as judges on "American Idol," TMZ said.
DioGuardi was fired from the post and DeGeneres announced Thursday she had quit, the Web site said.
The casting changes mean the show is going back to a three-judge format and Randy Jackson will be the only holdover from the cast when the singing competition series returns for a 10th season.
Simon Cowell was the fourth judge, but left at the end of Season 9 to executive-produce and eventually star in another talent show, "The X Factor."

Boston -- Steven Tyler's lawyer has sent a letter to his U.S. band Aerosmith warning the musicians not to replace Tyler while he is in rehab, Billboard.com reported.
Guitarist Joe Perry recently said he and his fellow band members are talking to singers about standing in for Tyler while he undergoes treatment for an addiction to painkillers and has surgery for performance-related injuries.
But Billboard.com said Tyler's attorney, Skip Miller, sent Aerosmith manager Howard Kaufman a letter last week, requesting he "immediately cease and desist from engaging in acts and conduct to the harm and detriment of your own client, Aerosmith, and our client who is one of its members."

New York -- Steven Tyler, former lead singer of the U.S. band Aerosmith, has signed with a new manager, Rolling Stone magazine reports.
The music industry publication reported Friday that Tyler, 61, hired Allen Kovac of 10th Street Entertainment less than a year after the singer signed on with the Union Entertainment Group's John Greenberg and Jason Flom.
Tyler's former Aerosmith band members had been less than pleased with Tyler's initial decision to part ways with the band's manager, Trudy Green, and sign with Union Entertainment. Tyler subsequently quit the band altogether.
Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford told Rolling Stone Tyler had been threatening to get his own manager for years.

Boston -- Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry says the U.S. rockers' lead singer, Steven Tyler, apparently bagged on the band after a United Arab Emirates show.
Speaking with the Las Vegas Sun Friday, Perry said he believes Tyler quit Aerosmith after a recent concert in Abu Dhabi and an online report appears to confirm his suspicion.
"Steven quit, as far as I can tell," Perry said. "I don't know anymore than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don't know for how long, indefinitely or whatever."
Perry told the Sun he would attempt to keep Aerosmith moving forward, even if Tyler part ways with his bandmates.
