Tucci, Clarkson to host Gotham Awards

New York -- Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson have signed on as hosts of the 20th anniversary Gotham Independent Film Awards show in New York, organizers said Monday.

The event is to take place Nov. 29.

Tucci to direct Shalhoub in Broadway play

New York -- Stanley Tucci is directing a Broadway revival of Ken Ludwig's "Lend Me a Tenor," starring Anthony LaPaglia and Tony Shalhoub, the show's producers said.

Co-starring Brooke Adams, Mary Catherine Garrison, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Jay Klaitz and Jan Maxwell, the 1930s-set comedy is slated to begin preview performances March 11 at Manhattan's Music Box Theatre. Opening night is scheduled for April 4.

Stanley Tucci's wife dies of cancer

New York -- Stanley Tucci's wife, Kate, has died of cancer, friends of the U.S. actor said.

The couple were married for 14 years and had three children together. The family lives in upstate New York.

"My wife was an extraordinary person who showed us all what great strength is," Tucci told the New York Post.

A wake was held for Kate Tucci last weekend, the Post said Thursday.
Stanley Tucci has appeared in dozens of films, including "Prizzi's Honor," "It Could Happen to You," "America's Sweethearts," "Maid in Manhattan" and "The Devil Wears Prada."
