MLB: Florida 14, Arizona 7

Phoenix, July 10: Brett Carroll's three-run homer was the centerpiece of a 10-run eighth inning Thursday that gave the Florida Marlins a 14-7 win over Arizona.

The Diamondbacks had won a season-best five straight games and took a 7-0 lead through five innings. Florida, however, brought an emphatic end to the Arizona run of success by scoring 14 times in the course of three innings.

The Marlins sent 14 men to the plate in the eighth and came up with eight hits while taking advantage of an error and a passed ball. The big inning began with Arizona still holding a 7-4 lead but the Marlins quickly loaded the bases against Juan Gutierrez.

MLB: Arizona 11, Colorado 7

Denver, July 5: Pinch-hitter Chris Young hit a three-run double in a six-run eighth inning for Arizona Saturday in the Diamondbacks' 11-7 win over Colorado.

Stephen Drew had three hits, including a two-run homer in the sixth. The lone hit by Mark Reynolds was a fourth-inning solo homer.

Felipe Lopez had two RBI, Chad Tracy drove in one, and Gerardo Parra added three hits and one RBI for the Diamondbacks, who overcame a 40-minute rain delay and came back from a 4-3 deficit after seven innings to end a three-game losing streak.

Reliever Scott Schoeneweis (1-0) got the win and closer Chad Qualls earned his 14th save.

Colorado's Ian Stewart, Seth Smith and Clint Barmes each had two RBI. Barmes hit a solo homer.

MLB: Seattle 4, Arizona 3

Seattle, June 20: Rob Johnson finished off a four-run eighth inning with an RBI triple Friday, rallying the Seattle Mariners to a 4-3 inter-league victory over Arizona.

Arizona starter Jon Garland had shut out the Mariners through seven innings on seven hits, but relievers Scott Schoeneweis and Tony Pena combined to lose the lead as well as the game.

Schoeneweis gave up a leadoff homer to Russell Branyan in the eighth and Pena (5-3) immediately was called from the bullpen.
