MLB: Seattle 4, Chi. White Sox 3 (14 inn.)

Seattle, Sept. 18: Ichiro Suzuki singled in Ryan Langerhans from second with one away in the 14th inning Thursday, giving Seattle a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Chicago had a three-run lead heading into the seventh, but Adrian Beltre hit a solo homer in that inning and the Mariners tied it in the ninth on home runs by Jose Lopez and Bill Hall.

Seattle was down to its final out when Hall hit his blast, his eighth of the season.

Chicago put two runners on with two out in the 12th, but failed to take advantage of the chance.

With Scott Linebrink (3-7) on the mound in the 14th, Langerhans delivered a one-out single to right. Linebrink hit pinch-hitter Kenji Johjima with a pitch and Suzuki followed with the game-winning base hit.

MLB: Boston 6, Chicago White Sox 3

Boston, Aug. 25: Jason Bay hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth Tuesday and Jacoby Ellsbury set a team stolen base record to lead Boston past the Chicago White Sox 6-3.

The Red Sox won their second straight and stayed 1 ½ games in front of Texas for the top spot in the American League wild-card chase.

Victor Martinez singled in a run in the seventh to rally the Red Sox to a 3-3 tie and Bay hit a one-out home run in the eighth off Scott Linebrink (3-6) for what turned out to be the winning score.

Boston went on to add two more runs in the inning on a single by Nick Green, a double by Martinez and a single by Ellsbury. Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 30th save, the fourth straight season he has reached 30 saves.

MLB: Chicago White Sox 8, Kansas City 7

Chicago, Aug. 18: Scott Podsednik drove in the winning run in the eighth inning Monday and the Chicago White Sox beat Kansas City 8-7, despite blowing a three-run lead.

The White Sox were ahead 7-4 when the Royals' Mike Jacobs tied the score with a pinch-hit three-run home run in the top of the eighth. Alex Rios led off the home half of the eighth with a walk, took second on a sacrifice bunt by Alexei Ramirez and then scored the go-ahead run on Podsednik's one-out single.

Jayson Nix and A.J. Pierzynski each hit a two-run homer and Podsednik drove in a run with a double in the fourth for Chicago, which won for the third time in its last four games.

Mark Buehrle started for the White Sox, allowing four runs on nine hits in six innings.

MLB: Chicago White Sox 5, Kansas City 0

Kansas City, Mo. July 3: John Danks and Scott Linebrink combined on a six-hitter Friday in carrying the Chicago White Sox to their seventh straight win -- 5-0 over Kansas City.

The White Sox began the evening 2 ½ games behind first-place Detroit in the American League Central and maintained their hot streak thanks to a 7 1/3-inning effort from Danks.

Danks (7-6) allowed five hits and struck out five. He has gone at least seven innings while allowing three or fewer runs in five straight starts.

Linebrink came on to retire five of the six men he faced.

A.J. Pierzynski gave Chicago the lead with a second-inning solo homer.
