McHale is named Spirit Awards host

Los Angeles -- Actor Joel McHale is to serve as host of the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, Calif., Film Independent said Wednesday.

The 26th edition of the awards ceremony honoring the previous year's best in low-budget filmmaking will be held Feb. 26. The show will air exclusively on IFC.

Nominees are to be revealed Nov. 30 by Eva Mendes and Jeremy Renner at The London West Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles.

Barbara Billingsley, Beaver's mom, dies at 94

Barbara Billingsley, the famous 1950s mother from ‘Leave it to Beaver,’ died in Santa Monica, Calif., on Saturday. She was 94, just two months short of her 95th birthday.
