Phillies' Howard idled with ankle sprain

Philadelphia-- Philadelphia Phillies slugger Ryan Howard was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a moderate left ankle sprain.

Howard was mired in an 0-for-14 slump at the time of the injury. He was hitting .292 with 23 homers and 81 RBI in 104 games this season and joins a parade of Phillies on the DL -- 15 have been idled at some point this year.
