Ryan Langerhans

MLB: Seattle 4, Chi. White Sox 3 (14 inn.)

Seattle, Sept. 18: Ichiro Suzuki singled in Ryan Langerhans from second with one away in the 14th inning Thursday, giving Seattle a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Chicago had a three-run lead heading into the seventh, but Adrian Beltre hit a solo homer in that inning and the Mariners tied it in the ninth on home runs by Jose Lopez and Bill Hall.

Seattle was down to its final out when Hall hit his blast, his eighth of the season.

Chicago put two runners on with two out in the 12th, but failed to take advantage of the chance.

With Scott Linebrink (3-7) on the mound in the 14th, Langerhans delivered a one-out single to right. Linebrink hit pinch-hitter Kenji Johjima with a pitch and Suzuki followed with the game-winning base hit.

MLB: Seattle 7, Tampa Bay 6

Seattle, Aug. 8: Ryan Langerhans hit a two-run homer with two out in the 11th inning Friday, rallying Seattle to a 7-6 victory over Tampa Bay.

The Mariners tied the game with a four-run seventh, but that comeback appeared to have been wasted when Tampa Bay scored in the top of the 11th on a one-out homer by Jason Bartlett.

J.P. Howell (6-3) came out for his second inning of work in the bottom of the 11th and walked Franklin Gutierrez. Jack Wilson sacrificed Gutierrez to second, and Rob Johnson flied out to center.

Langerhans, needing a hit to keep the game alive, did more than that by blasting a 2-2 pitch over the wall in right.

MLB: Seattle 2, Detroit 1

Detroit, July 22: A two-run homer by Russell Branyan in the eighth inning Wednesday, one of just two hits for Seattle in the entire game, boosted the Mariners past Detroit 2-1.

Seattle won for the fourth time in five contests despite being shut down by Armando Galarraga for 7 1/3 innings.

Galarraga walked four, but the only hit he gave up was a fifth-inning single by Ryan Langerhans.

Jack Hannahan drew a walk to lead off the Seattle eighth and moved to second on a ground out by Ronny Cedeno. Bobby Seay (1-2) was called on to replace Galarraga and he got Ichiro Suzuki to hit a grounder to shortstop, on which Hannahan was thrown out at third.

Needing one more out to escape the inning, Seay served up a home run ball to Branyan on a 1-0 pitch.

MLB: Seattle 5, Baltimore 0

Seattle, July 7: Jarrod Washburn pitched his first career one-hit shutout Monday in the Seattle Mariners' 5-0 win over Baltimore.

Washburn (5-6) set down the first 11 batters he faced and went on to face just 28 batters -- one over the minimum. He struck out three.

Russell Branyan smacked a first-inning solo homer -- his 21st round-tripper of the season -- and Chris Woodward drove in two runs with a sixth-inning double for the Mariners, who won for the fourth time in their last five games. Franklin Gutierrez had three hits and scored once and Ichiro Suzuki and Ryan Langerhans each drove in a run.

Nick Markakis was the only Oriole to get a hit when he singled in the fourth.
