Casares, Spain -- Anthony Kim, whose game has suddenly reappeared after a poor season, won twice Thursday at the Volvo World Match Play Championship.
Kim defeated Retief Goosen by four holes in the morning and then downed Paul Casey by three holes in the afternoon to take command of his group.
After a breakthrough season in 2008, during which he won twice, claimed $4.6 million and was one of the stars of the American Ryder Cup team, Kim went without a victory in 2009.
He began his comeback with a 3-1 record last month at the Presidents Cup and he opened the match play event with a solid showing.

Norton, Mass. Sept. 4: Steve Stricker and Jim Furyk shot 8-under 63s Friday to highlight a burst of low scoring and share the lead after one round of the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Tiger Woods, meanwhile, found himself seven shots off the pace.
In the second of the PGA Tour's four playoff tournaments, Stricker put himself in excellent position to take the lead in the race for the FedEx Cup.
Stricker came into the tournament trailing only Woods in the points race and a victory this week would vault Stricker into first place.
Furyk is trying for his first victory since 2007. Never in his career has he gone two straight seasons without a win.

Oakville, Ontario July 23: Kevin Na rolled in a 20-foot putt with darkness approaching Thursday to shoot a 9-under 63 and take the lead in the rain-delayed Canadian Open.
Play was suspended for almost eight hours before resuming in the afternoon and 39 players never got to the first tee.
Na, who has not won on the PGA Tour but has had seven top-10 finishes this year, took advantage of the soft conditions to shoot the lowest round of his seven-year career.
Scott Verplank, Retief Goosen and Joe Durant all shot 7-under 65. Jimmy Walker was at 6-under with four holes to play when play was halted by darkness.
Stewart Cink, who defeated 59-year-old Tom Watson to win a playoff at last week's British Open, is not competing in the event.

Turnberry, Scotland July 17: Tom Watson holed a 40-foot putt on the final green Friday to share the 36-hole lead with Steve Marino at the British Open.
Tiger Woods, meanwhile, suffered a rare major championship meltdown. He missed the cut in a major event for only the second time in his career.
At age 59, Watson became the oldest player ever to lead a major championship, rebounding from a rough start in the wind and rain to shoot a 70 and complete 36 holes over the Turnberry course in 5-under 135.
Marino, who was born three years before Watson won the fifth of his British Open titles, shot a 68 early in the day before waves of rain swept through the area.
Marino is trying to win his first professional tournament.

Glasgow, Scotland. -- Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano shot 7-under-par 64 Saturday to take the lead of the European Tour's Scottish Open in Glasgow after three rounds.

Fernandez-Castano parred his last three holes and with his 14-under 199, 54-hole total leads Goosen (69) and Germany's Martin Kaymer (66) by one shot heading into the final round at the historic Loch Lomond Golf Club.
"It's funny. On the range I couldn't hit a shot," he told reporters.
"Unfortunately my putting was not as good, but after a 64 I am not going to complain."

Germany's Martin Kaymer (65), last week's winner at the Open de France, is
8-under 134 with Australia's Marcus Fraser (66), tied for third.

Munich, Germany. -- An 8-under-par 64 Thursday gave South Africa's Retief Goosen a two-stroke lead after the first round of the BMW International Open in Munich.
A heavy rainfall nearly delayed the start of the tournament, and when the downpour began, the field played despite puddles in the fairways and water-logged bunkers.
Goosen finished in 16th place at last week's U.S. Open, a tournament he has won twice in his career (2001, 2004).
While playing the back nine first, he closed his round with four birdies, two at the par-5 sixth and ninth holes.
"When you get a round like this going, it's nice to get a break and make it a really good round," he said about his finish.
