MLB: Chicago Cubs 3, Cincinnati 1

Chicago -- Randy Wells took a no-hitter into the seventh inning Saturday, eventually settling for 3-1 Chicago Cubs victory over Cincinnati.

Wells (4-6) ended up allowing five hits over 7 2/3 innings, yielding one run and a walk while striking out five to notch his first win since April 30 and hand the Cubs only their second win in six games.

Alfonso Soriano broke a scoreless tie with a run-scoring bloop single in the sixth inning and Geovany Soto added two more on a double to make it 3-0.

Carlos Marmol notched his 15th save of the season after getting the final five outs.

Jordon Smith (1-1) was saddled withe loss after Reds starter Jonny Cueto tossed five shoutout innings.

MLB: Chicago Cubs 7, Milwaukee 2

Milwaukee, Sept. 23: Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez each had two RBI Tuesday in the Chicago Cubs' 7-2 win over Milwaukee.

Lee went 3-for-4, including a solo home run, for the Cubs, who scored all their runs in the first four innings en route to their third consecutive victory.

Ramirez collected his two RBI on a single in the Cubs' three-run first inning.

Randy Wells (11-9) got the win. He gave up one run on seven hits and struck out five in six innings.

Dave Bush (5-8) took the loss after struggling through 1 1/3 innings. Bush surrendered six runs -- five earned -- on four hits and four walks.

MLB: LA Dodgers 2, Chicago Cubs 1

Los Angeles, Aug. 22: Randy Wolf and two relievers limited Chicago to a lone hit Friday, and the Los Angeles Dodgers won a pitcher's duel 2-1.

Wolf drove in both Los Angeles runs, and the Dodgers took advantage of a key error to win their second in a row.

The Dodgers, who have seen their once-large lead in the National League West steadily shrink, boosted their advantage over second-place Colorado to 4 1/2 games.

The Cubs' only hit came in the third inning and produced their only run. Sam Fuld drew a one-out walk off Wolf (8-6), was sacrificed to second and scored on a single by Ryan Theriot.

Jonathan Broxton struck out two in the ninth for his 27th save.

MLB: Chicago Cubs 4, Cincinnati 2

Cincinnati, Aug. 3: Randy Wells pitched 7 1/3 innings Monday for the Chicago Cubs in a 4-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

Wells (8-4) gave up a solo home run among six hits with two walks to win his fourth straight start. In his past nine starts he is 8-1.

Mike Fontenot hit a three-run homer and Derrek Lee drove in the other run for the Cubs, who have won four of their last six games.

The win puts Chicago in a virtual tie with St. Louis for the lead in the NL Central.

Alex Gonzalez hit a solo home run and an RBI double for the Reds, who have lost seven straight and 13 of their last 14 games.

MLB: Chicago Cubs 4, Atlanta 2

Chicago, July 6: Derrek Lee had a two-run homer and a double Monday to pace the Chicago Cubs to a 4-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

Randy Wells (4-3) gave up two runs on seven hits in six innings for his fourth consecutive victory. Wells became the first Cubs rookie to win four straight starts since Kerry Wood in 1998.

Kevin Gregg earned his 15th save.

Kosuke Fukudome was 2-for-3 with an RBI double for the Cubs, who have won six of their last eight games. Ryan Theriot had the other run batted in for Chicago.

Jair Jurrjens (6-7) allowed four runs on seven hits with three walks in six innings to take the loss for Atlanta.

MLB: Chicago Cubs 4, Pittsburgh 1

Pittsburgh, July 1: Derrek Lee staked Chicago to a quick lead with a first-inning, two-run homer Wednesday and the Cubs went on to defeat Pittsburgh 4-1.

Randy Wells (3-3) picked up his third straight victory by limiting the Pirates to a run on six hits over seven innings. Kevin Gregg worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his 14th save.

Sam Fuld opened the Chicago first with a double off Virgil Vasquez and moved to third on a sacrifice by Ryan Theriot. Lee followed with his 12th homer.

Pittsburgh scored its only run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Brandon Moss, but the Cubs regained a two-run cushion on a home run by Kosuke Fukudome in the sixth.

A single by Geovany Soto drove in the final run of the game in the eighth.
